From the desk of Pres Andrea – lots of business this week – alot happening!

(apologes for an typos - sigh)
  • Regionalisation
    • Showed the slides from Judy Ford (District Regionalisation Representative D9705) following on from a Zoom meeting (26/7/22) of some 20 or so district’s clubs’ presidents, which followed the notes Sharon provided in last week’s newsnotes, which in turn followed from the webinar across the district we did on the Saturday (23/7/22)
    • Those slides are now up on hour website, Thankyou Warrick for a great page too, summarising the project – you can get to it from the home page just under the banner or the ‘creating tomorrow’ banner, or from here!
  • Our first 22-23 Board meeting
    • A reminder of the Board composition and committees:

update for  Mawhonga Project
  • Decision
    Details
    D20220728-1
Approved Judy Raymond’s application to become a member
    D20220728-2
    1. if a member brings a guest they or the guest should pay.
    2. CC increases cost from $33 to $35. Ross showed the projections.
      1. increase our lunch cost for member and approved friends (formerly associates)is to $38
      2. Charge non members and visitors $40
      3. Remember that members do not have to pay for parking

  • This new payment regime will start at next meeting, 4/8/22.  This will cover speakers and what was formerly fines.
  • Some of the items that popped up at Thursday’s members’ lunch:
    • Apologies from Russell, Judy Raymond and George Wilson
    • As part of getting our documentation up to date, Monica G will undertake a follow up of our club’s history of PHF recipients

    • We had a briefing from Brian Goldstraw (Ginniderra) on the Zone 8 conference and early bird cost (which expired 31/7/22, so this newsnote is after that!).  He shall also pose the following query up the Conference organising  the chain:
whether Rotary’s support of Ukraine is being promoted at the Zone 8 Conference.
I don’t believe we have a speaker, breakout session on the subject and am not aware that anyone has registered a stand in the Showcase area.
I believe this is something we should consider addressing
      . “

    • We also had a briefing from Gary Davis (Woden Daybreak) about their upcoming 20th anniversary Charter dinner on the 6/8/22 at the SCC Woden.

    • I undertook to send an email to the Regionalisation project contacts asking the specific question: “what is the formal proposition to come to clubs, to vote on, and the formal mechanism to return the vote’s result to the Project?
Since then i recieved a "presidents' pack" that has a fact sheet on this very question.
      You can find it here

    • I also undertook to notify the membership of the Board support of the application of Judy Raymond to join our club.  This now served by this newsnote item.   If anyone would like further information contact me in the absence of a membership director or committee.  If anyone wants to put their hands up for this for the rest of the year, also contact me.

  • As part of my ideas for this year (and the future, and echoing the aims of regionalisation wrt partnering with other clubs) a few weeks ago I knocked together a simple spreadsheet of the other clubs in the ACT  and what they do for projects.  I showed it at my 1st meeting this year.– I reproduce it here.- Source: the clubs’ websites and facebook pages,  June 2022.  Can you as members of RCCBG think of opportunities to partner with another club?
