Here’s why.

Rotary provides a simple path to allow you to make an impact on what happens around you. 

Rotary is non-political, Rotary is secular, and Rotary is a worldwide organisation that allows all Rotarians to start a worldwide project from a local level.

A Rotary is a simple but true structure over 100 years strong.

And the strength of Rotary is that it is one of the only charity organisations that deliver 100% of the money it raises to the project it delivers.

The Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin is a great choice.

We are a Thursday lunchtime club and normally meet at The Commonwealth Club in Yarralumla twice a month. We also meet via Zoom and hold informal evening meetings. 

“We provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

The Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin (RCCBG) provides service to the residents of the ACT, the indigenous people of the Ngunnawal country, and the indigenous peoples in nearby communities. We promote peace in our area through the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell and the installation of Peace Poles throughout Australia.”

All Rotary clubs raise funds.

Our club raises funds by:

• The Annual Japanese Candle Festival in Nara Peace Park; 
• The Canberra Rotary Peace Bell tours through small coin donations;
• Special Dinners for specific causes; and
• Fundraisers such as parking control and other projects.


What are the funds used for?

We currently have six project areas.  

1. Peace.

With our establishment of The Canberra Rotary Peace Bell in Nara Park, we promote Peace by having regular events at the peace bell, including tours for school groups visiting the bell from across Australia, embassies, United Nations commemoration services, and any community groups or individuals wanting to ring the bell for peace.

2. The Rotary Foundation.

The Rotary Foundation allows members to provide gifts to service projects that change lives close to home and worldwide.

Founded over 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. Projects like eliminating Polio, fighting waterbourne illnesses, and anti-bullying of children.

3. Domestic Violence Support.

Support of ACT centres that protect survivors of domestic violence.

4. International Programs.

We currently engage with the Rotary Club of Warsaw assisting Ukraine Refugees

We have been able to assist refugees arriving from Afghanistan

We support work in West Timor through the provision of fresh water tanks and education working with the Nusa Tenggara Association.

5. Environmental Projects.

George Wilson has worked tirelessly with the Ngiyamaa Wangaaypuwan community at Mawonga IPA near Hillston NSW, to develop a plan of management to improve the environment on their lands. 

6. Aboriginal Student Scholarship Program.

For several years and again this year we have awarded $2000 for scholarships at the Hay War Memorial High School, NSW.
