Last Week’s Meeting:
Our monthly social meeting was a lunch held at the Red Shed café at Black Mountain peninsula. An excellent meal was provided to most attendees with Juris’ huge bowl of chips being diminished by members taste testing the chips for throughout the meeting.
We were lucky to meet Ted Holdaway again – a friend and visitor through Russell. He told us about his very adventurous travels and as an added bonus he can speak fluent Japanese! We hope to see him again.
Bill raised the dilemma we face as a club about fund raising. The car parking raised almost $4000 but most of the hard yakka was carried out by just a few members. Our stall at the Candle festival raised about $3000 with most members participating and a lot of hard work. Overall the members at the lunch were in favour of continuing our stall at the Candle Festival – so let’s go!
Saturday saw the annual Community Rotary Awards at the Peace Bell. Michael will report at the next lunch.

Rotary In-joke of the Week
A boy asks his father, "Dad, are bugs good to eat?" "That's disgusting. Don't talk about things like that over dinner," the dad replies. After dinner the father asks, "Now, son, what did you want to ask me?" "Oh, nothing," the boy says. "There was a bug in your soup, but now it’s gone."
