NOTES ON THE RUN
Great spring weather over the weekend, got some work done in the garden and a few runs in too. Next weekend is the virtual City2Surf...
We have a Board meeting this Wednesday, one of the main discussion points will be to go forward with one or more fundraising options for the club. Thank you to all for your guidance. Look forward to sharing on Thursday with the whole club.
The District has put together an Environment team who will be assigning an "Environmental Envoy" to clubs. This is to "Help the Rotary Family understand and implement the new Rotary Area of Focus – Protecting the Environment" This is being run by Past DG David Brawn. Looking forward to hearing more on this initiative.
The Helping Hands food deliveries have finished up with the end of lockdown. Thank you to the people who contributed time and monetarily. It was a great initiative that will hopefully continue in some form or another. It was a great opportunity to get out and meet some interesting characters as well as providing much-needed support.
Have a great week

COMMUNITY SERVICE NOTES
Peace Notes
We set out to see if we could have 100 poles donated, That target has been well and truly exceeded. We are continuing to receive requests for Peace Poles and I can confirm that we now have Rotary Peace Poles in every State and Territory. We have registered 205 Poles and it looks like 185 have been installed.

Guest speaker:
Hugh Watson, who is a friend of the Club and who has spoken to us before, will describe his second novel The Silo.
He says it is a thriller set in the brutal world of country politics. In The Silo, he draws on his country roots and political background to immerse readers in a story about corruption, blackmail, murder and shadowy international investment.

Guest speaker: Fred Smith. Topic: We welcomed back Fred who presented again an interesting talk on his experience in Afghanistan and we were able to congratulate him for being the winner of the "Chief Minister's Rotary Peace Prize" this year.
MEMBERSHIP NOTES
Attention Associate Members of our Rotary Club!
I bring your attention to the importance of taking out full membership.
If you have been an Associate Member of our Rotary club for a year or more, I suggest that it’s time for you to take out full membership. Here are the reasons for being a full member:
(1) It gives you voting rights.
(2) It gives you insurance cover.
(3) It provides equity with other club members.
(4) It gives you proper recognition as a Rotarian in any context.
(5) Associate membership, an innovation in our club, in its conception was meant to be temporary.
So, I call upon all Associate members who have been Associate members for a year or more, to please take the plunge and take steps to become full Rotary members, contacting me or Sharon Green to make the move.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE:
A group of guys, all turning 40, discussed where they should meet for lunch and decided on the Commonwealth Club because the waitresses were very attentive to their customers.
Ten years later, at age 50 the friends once again discussed where they should meet, and once again decided on the Commonwealth Club because the waitresses were attractive.
Ten years later, at the age 60, the friends again discussed where they should meet and again decided on the Commonwealth Club because there was plenty of parking.
Ten years later, at age 70, the friends discussed where they should meet for this big occasion. The Commonwealth Club was chosen because the restaurant was wheelchair accessible.
Ten years later, at age 80, the friends discussed where they would gather for this special milestone. They all agreed to the Commonwealth Club because they had never been there before!
