The President's Report
Sunday was Harmony Day 2021 and as you are all aware this was combined with the unveiling of Peace Pole 100 of 100 at a ceremony at the Peace Bell.
The Guests of Honour were the Governor General of Australia, David Hurley, and Mrs Hurley.
Although it was a miserable day weather wise we managed to get through proceedings without any rain. There was a very good crowd in attendance but I regret to say very few Club Members. There was also a considerable number of Ambassadors and High Commissioners who rang the bell.
This Thursday the 25th we have a Zoom meeting scheduled but at this stage no guest speaker so it could be a very short meeting. Can Directors please be prepared to update members on their activity.

Last Week's Luncheon Speaker
Our speaker was Anke Jennaway, a Master Speaker Trainer, who gave us an interesting talk on how we can become better speakers. She told us about the importance of stories in getting a connection with the audience and being clear about the purpose of the speech. Practicing the speech beforehand and knowing your audience increase the chances of a successful delivery. Anke gave many other useful tips and is available to train individuals and groups and make presentations to other organisations. Her website is www.ankeofficial.com

On the Lighter Side
We had a power cut at our house this morning and my PC, laptop, TV, DVD, iPad and my new surround sound music system were all shut down.
Then I discovered that my mobile phone battery was dead and to top it off it was raining outside so I couldn't play golf.
I went into the kitchen to make coffee and then I remembered that this also needs power, so I sat and talked with my wife for a couple of hours.
She seems like a nice person.
