The President's Report

Last week our soon to be new member, Russell Drew, gave us a very interesting and informative talk on Covid-19 and the economic effect in Australia and the World as a whole.

According to figures supplied by Russell the future does look bright in the world of finance.

Another reminder that on Sunday 21st of this month at 11.30am all members are asked to attend the Peace Bell if possible for the World Peace Day celebration with the Governor General in attendance.

The next Board Meeting will be in the L.J. Hooker Office on Wednesday 24th at 5.30pm.

Peace Project

Some very good news. We have just been advised that the Governor General His Excellency General Hurley and Mrs Hurley have accepted the invitation to attend the Harmony Day celebrations on the 21st March from 11.30 am.

This is the day that Peace Pole 100 of 100 will be unveiled. Hopefully each of the 15 statements on the pole will be read in each language after the Peace Pole is unveiled. The Peace Bell will also be rung 15 times.

In addition there will be some Cultural activities and performances on the day.

If you are available please attend and enjoy this special association between The Canberra Multicultural Community Forum and the Rotary Clubs of Canberra and Canberra Burley Griffin.

Just so we can watch numbers please email me if you are able to attend on the day.

On the Lighter Side

A married couple were asleep when the phone rang at 2.00 am in the morning. The very blonde wife picked up the phone, listened a moment and said "How should I know, that's 200 miles from here!" and hung up.

The husband said, "Who was that?"

The wife answered, "I don't know, some woman wanting to know if the coast is clear".
