Last Thursday was the first meeting for the 2026-27 Rotary year. Rotary International President Olayinka H. Babalola has set the theme “Create Lasting Impact” for 2026–27, encouraging Clubs to make meaningful, sustainable differences in their communities while fostering personal growth among members. Each month has a designated theme to guide Club activities, service projects, and member engagement.
The theme for July is “Maternal and Child Health”. One of the outcomes from our meeting last Thursday was an agreement for the Club to fund a shelter box at $1,000 for the victims of the earthquake in Venezuela. The board have formally approved this support. In addition, at the time of finalising the Bulletin, members have contributed an additional $700 for this purpose.

Also, the members present were encouraged to bring a guest to our next meeting.
This Thursday, we will build on the outcomes from last Thursday with a deeper dive into what our Rotary Club is doing and or could do in this area.

- Peace poles in schools – build relationships
- Organisations like Circle of Women
- Identify unmet needs
- Indigenous Health and education

Bill Andrews has organised a social event at the National Museum of Australia for Thursday, 16 July. We are booked in for the Antarctica Virtual Reality experience at 1.15 pm. We have been asked to arrive 10 minutes before the session starts to give time for head-set distribution, introduction and safety information presentation.
For lunch, we will have a booking at the Museum Café. I will distribute the menu on Thursday and Ross/Eric will coordinate numbers. May I suggest we arrive for lunch at around 12 Noon.

Our next meeting will be held at the Royal Canberra Golf Club on Thursday, 9 July. Acting President John will lead a discussion to build on the outcomes from last Thursday with a deeper dive into what our Rotary Club is doing and or could do in this area.
