Next meeting
Next week’s meeting will be two outings:
a social outing to the National Archives of Australia, East Block, Barton to tour “Rear Vision” – the history of Holden, from a 19th century saddlery to “Australia’s Own Car”, and
a visit to Birrigai campsite, to view the educational opportunity we are supporting Queanbeyan High School indigenous students. See notice below for details, and please RSVP to John if you plan to attend.
Birrigai Outdoor School visit, 21 August
Members are invited to join a special club visit to Birrigai Outdoor School on Friday 21 August 2026.
The purpose of the visit is to observe the Birrigai program and gain a better understanding of the educational and cultural opportunities it provides to young people, particularly to the indigenous students at Queanbeyan High School, whose participation in the program we are spporting.
Programme for the Day
9.30 am: Meet at the Torrens Shops for coffee at the new High Society Café.
10.00 am: Depart Torrens for Birrigai Outdoor School.
10.30 am: Arrive at Birrigai and commence visit.
Lunch: A barbecue lunch will be provided.
2.00 pm (approx.): Depart Birrigai and return home.

Volunteering opportunity: Legacy Week: 31 August to 5 September
Past District Governor Lynne Duckham has reached out to our Club seeking help during Legacy Week (Monday, 31 August to Saturday, 5 September).
Legacy Week is a major fundraising and public awareness activity in support of the partners and families of veterans who have given their life or lost their health and are unable to support their families as previously. Currently there are far fewer volunteers than needed to cover all planned activities.
If you can spare as little as 2 hours on any day, your help would be appreciated.
