NOTES ON THE RUN

A good start to the year and many thanks to George for putting on such an interesting talk - a wonderful trip with too many highlights to remember

We have an important meeting this week. Ambassador Yamagami from the Japanese Embassy will be visiting us and as well as being inducted as a diplomatic member of our club, he will be giving a speech.

We have been asked to help out with a BBQ at Bunnings on Sunday 8th August. Peter Davies has seen this as a good way to kick off the community service portfolio. We are encouraging members to sign up and lend a pair of tongs for an hour or two. This is supporting Shine for Kids - who transform the lives of kids whose families are affected by the criminal justice system. Peter will have more details.

Work on the lectern continues. It is now lightly disassembled in my lounge room at the moment, looking to put new wheels on next weekend.

President Warrick

Mr. Yamagami has a distinguished career of almost 40 years in the Japanese foreign service holding several important positions.

LAST WEEK'S CLUB LUNCHEON MEETING

The speaker at last week's meeting was George Wilson who gave an interesting talk on his quick outback trip to Arnhem Land by light aircraft. An interesting note was the large number of travellers in the outback, partly due to the restriction on international travel.

As a result of the planning day, the Club discussed a micro-loan through Kiva to a person in a developing country to support a business opportunity. The Club voted to send $25 to Sylvain in Africa.

LANGUAGE NOTES (JAPANESE)
