Travelling Rotarian Report
I had to look twice to see if this emu was alive. It was. I’ve since worked out that it’s a male emu sitting on eggs.
The artesian bore baths at Lightning Ridge – an excellent antidote to Canberra’s winter cold!
Finally, a visit to the Peace Bell in Cowra on the way home.
I’ve spent a few days away from Canberra’s cold, visiting Wellington (NSW, not NZ) and Lightning Ridge, breaking my return journey in Cowra. I did some good walking around Wellington, and soaked in the artesian bore baths in Lightning Ridge.

I’m pleased to report the Rotary Club of Lightning Ridge seems to be active – I saw signs advertising its meetings outside the Post Office and the Tourist Information Centre. My visit didn’t coincide with a meeting time.

Fred Smith concert: Unforgotten: Songs of Australians at war: 15 August
Join acclaimed Australian musician and friend of our Club, Fred Smith OAM, on Saturday, 15 August, for a reflective evening of music and storytelling, honouring service and sacrifice. Drawing on his experiences in Bougainville and Afghanistan, Fred brings to life the human stories of conflict, connection and memory through the power of live performance.

Rotarian Code of Conduct, with caveat
I found this on Facebook and checked if it had any official status before including it in the Bulletin. It does, with one caveat: it’s incomplete, with a fifth point being added to the Code in 2019, namely:
5. Help maintain a harassment-free environment in Rotary meetings, events, and activities, report any suspected harassment, and help ensure non-retaliation to those individuals that report harassment.
It always pays to check something you see online!
